MTV Awards 2023: Full List Of Winners

The sixth MTV Awards 2023 to celebrate both movies and television took place in 2023 and it was the 31st annual MTV Movie & TV Awards.

It was initially planned to be a live award presentation on May 7, 2023, at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, with Drew Barrymore as the host.

However, on May 5, 2023, the live event was postponed owing to the Writers Guild of America strike and substituted with a broadcast-only virtual celebration. The live broadcast was canceled along with Drew Barrymore’s departure.

Background of MTV Awards 2023

Drew Barrymore hosted the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which was once again held at the Barker Hangar, according to the original MTV announcement made on March 15.

Barrymore withdrew in support of the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, and it was revealed on May 4 that she had decided to return for the 2024 event.

On May 5, it was announced that the ceremony’s structure had been changed when the majority of the scheduled attendees and presenters withdrew in support of the strike.

After the WGA declared its intention to picket Barker Hangar later that day, MTV officially canceled the in-person celebration.

The ceremony was to be replaced by a virtual one that would only be aired, with winners appearing via pre-recorded acceptance speeches and more emphasis on montages and footage from prior performances.

On the same day, it was revealed that the live broadcast had been canceled due to Barrymore’s resignation as host.
