Antonia Prebble is a New Zealand actress, best known for her role as Loretta West in the hit NZ comedy-drama Outrageous Fortune, as Trudy in The Tribe, as Jane in The Blue Rose, and as Rita West, the grandmother of her character in Outrageous Fortune, on the prequel series Westside.

Antonia Prebble was the most feared woman on Kiwi TV screens and is currently working on season two of her podcast, What Matters Most. She has been acting professionally since she was 12 and her debut role was in 1997 playing Mandy McFarlane.

Antonia Mary Preble was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and is the middle of three children of John Preble a Sussex-born lawyer and professor of law at Victoria University of Wellington, and Nicola Mary Riddiford, an English teacher and Preble had an older sister, Becky, and a younger brother, Ben, who both attended law school. Her uncle Richard Preble was a former politician, her uncle Mark Preble was a former chairman of the National Service, and her uncle Tom Preble was a university administrator and professor emeritus.

Antonia Prebble attended Queen Margaret University from 1999-2001, serving as Governor of the Arts and Proximity Access in her senior year. She then enrolled at Victoria University in Wellington, where she earned a BA in Linguistics. Before Antonia Prebble changed her major, she originally earned a Bachelor of Laws degree and is fluent in French.

Antonia Prebble developed an interest in acting from an early age and starred in the 1993 stage production of The Magical Kingdom of Shingi Mijigu. In the late 1990s, she began working extensively with New Zealand children’s television production companies, where she starred and guest-starred in several shows. Her roles include Mandy MacFarlane in the second season of The Mirror in 1997 and Trudy in the five series of The Tribe from 1999 to 2003 and also guest-starred in the two episodes of Power Rangers.

Antonia Prebble made a cameo in the band Flip Greater’s music video for “Careful” and hosted New Zealand show WNTV (What Now Television) from 2002 to 2003. In 2005, she was cast as 15-year-old film buff Loretta West in the New Zealand comedy Outrageous Fortune. At the end of season 5, Loretta married her partner and the father of her child, Hayden Peters (played by Shane Cortese). The final episode of the series aired on November 9, 2010.

Antonia Prebble made a cameo appearance in the 2011 TVNZ series Almighty Johnsons as a red herring who uncovers the identity of the Norse goddess Frigg. She and Marshall teamed up again in 2013 on the mystery thriller series The Blue Rose. In 2015, she starred as Rita West in the Outrageous Fortune prequel, The West Side, playing the original series character’s grandmother (as a young woman).

During the same year, she was featured in the music video for “Help You Now” by Auckland band Alae. In April 2020, she participated in an Outrageous Fortune virtual greeting in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. On 19 November 2020, Antonia Prebble was the guest host on The Project before the final episode of Westside and in November 2022, joined the cast of Shortland Street as Dr Rebekah Anderson.

In 2016, Antonia Prebble began dating then-West Side co-star Dan Musgrove. The two got engaged in July 2018 and announced their pregnancy in February 2019. They have two children together now.
