Staley Lebby is te wife of Jeff Lebby. She is the daughter of former college football head coach Art Briles. She is one of the three children Art has with his long-term wife Jan Alisson.
In the aftermath of sexual allegations at Baylor, she publicly defended her father, which brought her initial media attention in 2016. She said that her family will not be caving in or giving in to the pressure, accusing the media of witch-hunting her father during the course of the story’s coverage.
She famously stood up for her father on her Facebook page, but since then, she has kept a quiet profile.
Jeff Lebby career
Lebby transitioned to teaching when the injury terminated his playing career and continued as a student assistant at Oklahoma. He would meet Josh Heupel, the quarterback for Oklahoma at the time and his future boss, at Oklahoma. He moved to Victoria High School in Texas to coach the tight ends and offensive line after leaving Oklahoma.
After returning to college in 2008, Lebby spent nine seasons with Baylor in a variety of positions, including two as the passing game coordinator.
He served as the deputy director of football operations from 2008 until 2011. He worked as a running backs coach for five seasons as well.
Dolores Lozano, a Baylor student, accused head coach Bob Lebby of being among the coaches who did nothing to stop running back Devin Chafin after she claimed to have been physically abused by him three times.
Lebby stood up for Art Briles, who is also Lebby’s father-in-law after Baylor fired him. He even sold shirts bearing the hashtag #CAB, which stands for Coach Art Briles, as a sign of his ongoing support.
The first full-time offensive coordinator position he was offered was at Southeastern, an NAIA university in Florida. He assisted Southeastern in winning the Sun Division of the Mid-South Conference and securing a postseason berth.
In the NAIA that season, Southeastern had the top-scoring offense and third-best overall offensive ranking. Reunited with Josh Heupel, Lebby was hired by UCF as their quarterback coach on December 24, 2017.
Quarterback McKenzie Milton was ranked ninth in passing efficiency rating and seventh in yards per attempt when he was coaching. In the Heisman Trophy voting that year, Milton would come in sixth place.
The next year, in 2019, he received a promotion to offensive coordinator. Dillon Gabriel, a true freshman quarterback, passed for 3,653 yards and 29 touchdowns, helping his offense finish fifth in total offense.
Lebby was hired by Ole Miss’s Lane Kiffin on December 11, 2019, to fill the same position he held at UCF. Lebby’s offense finished sixth in terms of total offense during his rookie campaign with the Rebels.
Lebby and Ole Miss inked a two-year contract extension on January 6, 2021. On December 8, 2021, Lebby and newly appointed head coach Brent Venables concluded an agreement for Lebby to become the Sooners’ new offensive coordinator. Oklahoma has signed Lebby to a three-year, $5.7 million contract.
The Sooners rose from 13th place in the country in yards per game during their inaugural campaign at Oklahoma to fourth place in 2023. Lebby was appointed head coach at Mississippi State on November 26, 2023.
